About the institute

The Institute has changed its structure during its existence and has existed in its present form since 1992. In June 1945, the Department of Electrical Machines was established as one of the first at the Lodz University of Technology. The builder and first Head of the Department was Professor Bolesław Dubicki of Warsaw University of Technology. The history of the Institute consists of three important periods when its structure changed: 1945-1970, when it functioned as part of a departmental structure, 1970-1984, when it functioned as an integrated institute, and since 1985, when it has functioned as an independent institute.
